by Jez Colborne
We were more-or-less thrown into this production as soon as term started. It was a musical journey sort-of-parallelling the journey of Odysseus home from the Trojan War, using sirens. We on the Making Theatre course were chorus members, and we basically had to stand around looking menacing and/or protective of Jez as he made his journey. I was given the extra task of helping Jez get through the rough ground of the location where we did the second performance - the Cow and Calf on Ilkley Moor.

Mind the Gap's main touring production for 2010/1 was another run of Mike Kenney's award-winning adaptation of Of Mice and Men. As part of our Making Theatre coursework, we had to do a major film project, and it was decided we would create a mockumentary about Of Mice and Men. As I had the most relevant experience, I slid into the role of director and chief editor.
|05/07/11||End of year Showcase
This was a display of the culmination of our year's work on the making Theatre course. First there were selected scenes from Of Mice and Men, then there was a few group scenes we'd devised, followed by some sketches and monologues, finished off by a rendition of Bring Me Sunshine, before those who'd taken the dance option showed us what they'd been working on. I not only had the most scenes from the Of Mice and Men extracts, I also fell into an ASM role backstage.
|November 2011||Real Voices, Real Lives
As MTG do a lot of forum theatre work, this was the major project for the acting company before work got started on the big summer projects. It was an educational piece, performed for care work students from Devon, on the problems facing people with disabilities in society - often unthinking discrimination, but also just plain victimisation.
